About Wayne

How I Work

Wayne Frecklington Psychotherapist Nelson Tasman

I tend to begin with a more focused and structured approach, particularly when clients are experiencing acute distress. The aim at this stage is to reduce distressing symptoms and create stability.

For those who wish to engage in deeper work and longer-term change, I draw on depth models of psychotherapy to help increase flexibility in personality and develop greater clarity, authenticity, purpose, values, meaning, and joy.

Therapy is not simply about symptom relief. It can also be about expanding awareness and living more deliberately.

I also provide professional supervision to other health professionals.

A Personal Note

Wayne Frecklington Psychotherapist Nelson Tasman

I qualified as a psychotherapist in 2001 and have worked with a diverse range of populations. The majority of my career has been in general adult mental health, including three years in a specialist psychotherapy intensive day programme. In recent years I have also worked for Hospice.

I work with individuals (including adolescents 13 years and older), couples, families and groups using a range of integrative strategies. I tend to use a more focused and structured approach initially, aimed at reducing distressing symptoms. For those who want to commit to greater change, I apply depth models to increase flexibility in personality and develop greater clarity, authenticity, purpose, values, meaning, and joy. I also provide supervision to other health professionals.

I moved to Nelson in 2017 with my family to better align with my values and engage more with the natural world.
